Two core topics for every state. This is a starting point, not a complete collection of state law. Federal law, tribal law, local rules, and individual circumstances may also apply.

Child protection

Child abuse & neglect reporting

N.C. Gen. Stat. § 7B-301

Any person or institution with cause to suspect that a juvenile is abused, neglected, dependent, or has died from maltreatment must report to the county social services director where the child lives or is found. This section specifies what information a report should contain.

School safety

School bullying & cyberbullying

N.C. Gen. Stat. §§ 115C-407.15–407.18

North Carolina’s School Violence Prevention Act defines bullying and harassing behavior and requires local policies. Use these school-policy provisions for prevention and reporting guidance; a criminal-law listing alone does not establish current enforceability.
