Two core topics for every state. This is a starting point, not a complete collection of state law. Federal law, tribal law, local rules, and individual circumstances may also apply.

Child protection

Child abuse & neglect reporting

Colo. Rev. Stat. § 19-3-304; HB 25-1188

Covered mandated reporters must report suspected abuse or neglect as soon as possible, within 24 hours. Telling a supervisor does not replace the reporting responsibility. The 2025 law and current agency guidance explain the professional-role requirement and limits on delegation.
