We’re a husband-and-wife team raising four children. Safer Not Scared grew out of a question we kept coming back to: how can we help families understand the risks their children face—and feel ready to respond?
In conversations with people we know, we realized how many caring adults were unfamiliar with the dangers children can encounter online. Parents wanted to protect their kids, but often didn’t know what to look for, which questions to ask, or where to find clear information.
We understood that feeling. Raising four children means learning as we go, making time for difficult conversations, and trying to keep up with a world that keeps changing. We wanted to build something useful for families doing the same.
That became Safer Not Scared: a place to find understandable guidance, reliable sources, and practical steps you can take with your family.
Working in artificial intelligence brings a professional perspective on technology and how quickly it is changing. Parenting brings the everyday questions: what are our children seeing, who are they talking to, and will they feel comfortable coming to us when something feels wrong?
We bring those perspectives together here. Our aim is to make technology and child-safety information easier to understand, so families can have better conversations and make informed decisions.

Help children know they can ask questions, share concerns, and turn to a trusted adult when they need support.
Offer a conversation starter, a setting to check, an official source to read, or a place to get help.
We’re building the resource we wanted as parents: something calm, useful, and grounded in the realities of family life. Whether you have a specific concern or simply want to be better informed, there is a place to begin.
