Before you start: Decide whether you are setting up YouTube Kids, a supervised child account on YouTube, or teen supervision. These are different experiences.

  1. Choose the experience
  2. Link the account
  3. Choose content
  4. Check the profile
  1. Choose the device route

Open Google’s setup guide below. Choose the instructions for a shared device or your child’s own device.

  2. Use a supervised account

Follow the account-linking prompts with your own Google account. Check that the child account is the one signed in for viewing.

  3. Review content settings

For a supervised child account, choose the available content setting that fits your family. Talk through what to do if a video feels wrong.

  4. Check shared screens

Look at the profile on TVs, tablets, and browsers too. A setting on one account does not supervise a different signed-in account.

Know what the controls cover

Filters can miss content. Teen supervision differs from the content settings for younger supervised accounts.
