Device guide · Official instructions checked October 3, 2026

Before you start: Set up your child’s supervised Google account in Family Link first. For a child’s iPhone or iPad, use our Apple device guide for device-wide controls.

  1. Family Link
  2. Your child
  3. Screen time
  4. Time limits
  1. Open the right profile

In Family Link on your device, select your child. Open Screen time → Time limits → App limits.

  2. Review installed apps

Choose an app and review whether it is allowed. Some system apps cannot be blocked or limited.

  3. Agree on a limit

Choose Set limit, enter the allowance, and tap Done. Check any apps marked Unlimited time as well.

  4. Check the result together

Use the supervised device to confirm the intended account and limits. Follow Google’s linked guide for app approvals and Google Play settings.

Know what the controls cover

App limits need a supported Android device. School-managed accounts and devices can have different restrictions.
