Use AI with judgment
Choose a low-risk learning task and check the result.
Academy overviewUnderstand
AI can support learning and accessibility, while creating risks involving privacy, fairness, and reliability. UNICEF’s guidance emphasizes children’s rights and wellbeing. A useful output still needs review appropriate to the task.

What to watch for
A fluent answer may include an incorrect fact or a reference that does not support it. An output can also overlook people or perspectives. Ask what evidence would make the answer trustworthy enough to use.
What to do
Try an invented study topic. Ask for hints rather than a finished assignment. Check factual claims with an appropriate source, follow the school’s rules, and explain in your own words what you learned.
What to avoid
Do not enter a child’s medical records, private messages, or identifying school details. Do not use a chatbot as emergency support or as the final authority on a child’s health or safety.
Talk about it
“What could we check ourselves, and what would need a qualified person?”
Practice
Ask on paper for three ideas for a fictional library event. Mark which parts are creative suggestions and which claims would need verification. No AI account is required.

Correct answer: Open the source and check whether it supports the claim
A citation must actually support the claim; confident language is not verification.
